ACT/SAT
Students considering college should take the ACT or SAT.
The ACT is typically taken in the 11th grade. However, it may be taken early (after Algebra I) as a diagnostic tool. When the test is taken more than once, college acceptance is usually based on the highest score. High scores may also help secure scholarships.
It is important to register as a Gateway student (rather than homeschooled). This will mean that the scores will be sent to us as well as to you.
Registration
To register for the ACT, go to www.act.org. When making your account and entering the "High School Information," select "Tennessee" in the Country/Region box, “Memphis” in the City box, and “Gateway Christian School” in the High School box. This will ensure that your scores are sent to us.

To register for the SAT, go to satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration. When creating your account and/or confirming information, list Gateway Christian Schools as your high school. To do this, go to the “Where do you go to school?” box, enter our school code (431421), and select our name in the menu. Or, you can search our name and zip code (38122) and select “Gateway Christian Schools.” This will ensure that your scores are sent to us.

If you registered for ACT or SAT and selected “I am being home schooled” or “I am home schooled” as your high school, you will have to arrange with ACT/SAT to have your scores sent to Gateway.
Study and Practice
We’ve found the Kaplan Test Prep books helpful. They also have a “Higher Score Guarantee.” See the latest editions for the ACT and SAT below.
